From two small towns, two visionaries with advanced degrees in Education began an impactful journey to uplift Black males. One, with over two decades of public education experience, dedicated themselves to supporting the dreams of all students, especially those with similar backgrounds, after starting their educational journey in a STEM field.
Simultaneously, the co-founder leveraged a childhood spent as a farmer to actively engage communities, emphasizing values like hard work and dedication. Both employ a theory-to-practice approach in educating and supporting students, focusing their research on the social and political influences of race and gender to address inequality in education, particularly within the experiences of Black men across the P-20 pipeline.
Believing in the enduring value of continuous learning, these individuals immersed themselves in examining the impact of educational structures on minority students and school leaders. As advocates of tempered social change, they united to establish "Bros. Beyond Bounds," a non-profit organization spanning from grade 5 to retirement. This initiative aims to empower Black males by fostering their growth as leaders, increasing representation across diverse career sectors, and enhancing academic attainment while addressing societal perceptions. The organization believes that by understanding and challenging these perceptions, Black boys can develop into strong leaders, and Black men can thrive in their current or future leadership roles across various fields.
"Bros. Beyond Bounds" implements this mission through a focus on self-awareness, leadership development, and strategies to overcome societal barriers. Together, they carve a path to create a supportive community that nurtures the dreams of Black males, fostering a legacy of inspiration, empowerment, and academic achievement.
